(Fort Wayne, Indiana 1/25/10) – On February 8th, Indiana’s NewsCenter (“INC”) is expanding its live 5:00 p.m. newscast on 21Alive to a full hour. Weeknights from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Melissa Long will anchor the day’s latest local news with Meteorologist Curtis Smith. INC’s expanded news coverage will be followed by its market-leading live 6:00 p.m. newscast on 21Alive and NBC33 providing viewers with a one and a half hour block of live local news. As a result of the live expanded newscast at 5:00 p.m., “Entertainment Tonight” will be broadcast at 7:00 p.m. weeknights on 21Alive.
“Expanding our strong 5:00 p.m. news programming to deliver live news for a full hour is natural for our viewers and advertisers,” explained President and General Manager Jerry Giesler. “We’ve led the market for years in live programming and this provides yet another opportunity for viewers to receive the live local news they value.”
“We pride ourselves in getting news to viewers no matter when and where they are,” added INC News Director Peter Neumann. “An hour long 5:00 p.m. newscast extends our position as the news leader and adds to our extensive stable of live programming, including our morning news, noon, prime 7:30 p.m. and first at 10:00 p.m. line-up.”
“INCnow offers a complete service of live news and 24/7 local news that is designed to meet the viewing preferences of our audiences,” concluded Giesler, “Regardless of the medium - broadcast, mobile, Web and on-demand, or time of day, Indiana’s NewsCenter is there for viewers first and when they need it most.”
Indiana’s NewsCenter offers viewers local news options at their convenience. INC’s News is available all day, everyday on its 24 hour local news station INCnow (digital 33.3, Comcast 249), The VIPIR Channel live radar (21.3), live 10:00 p.m. news on The CW (21.2, Comcast 19), and MyTV (33.2, Comcast 252), as well as traditional and expanded newscasts on NBC33 and 21Alive. In addition to our news programming, we also provide a range of live local shows including, “Docs on Call” - a live, local call in show with different physician practices and disciplines; “Sound Off” - a local sports issue call in program; and, in this election year, “Political Radar” will be making its return. All live, local programming is broadcast in 16:9 widescreen format, another market-exclusive feature.
